In 1957, as a result of the suppression of the popular uprising in Hungary the previous year, Altkettenhof was used to accommodate 1,000 Hungarian refugees.

In 1960, the tourist office and the district court finally moved into the castle. After the traffic office moved to the building of the Federal Police Commissariat at Wiener Straße 13 in 1963, the vacated rooms were now used to accommodate the school of justice. This was officially opened in the spring of 1964.
