Lacco Ameno is the smallest, finest and most populated municipality on the island of Ischia. This small town is rightly called one of the pearls of the island.
The small, wonderfully mushroom-shaped island is the symbol of this town. Probably torn loose by a volcanic eruption many centuries ago, this rock rolled towards the valley and placed itself in the sea, a few meters from the port of Lacco Ameno. The wind and weather have given it the shape of a mushroom. Il Fungo, the mushroom, is still the focus of romantic legends today.translated by
