The Büdnerei was built around 1780 in connection with the water mill belonging to Ahrenshagen. After the complete burn down of the mill in 1829, which was no longer built, the house belonged to the blacksmith. The smithy was across the street from the house; in the thatched house itself there was a "Dorfkrug" (inn) and a post office. In 1961 the smithy was demolished, but the post office was maintained until 1980. After reunification, the dilapidated house, which was listed as a monument, was painstakingly restored over several years (1991-1996).
