The hamlet of Sant’Antonio Abbandonato rises at 987 meters above sea level. s.l.m. on the crest of the mountain between Valle Brembilla and Valle Brembana.

Several documents from 1440 mention a small chapel dedicated to S. Antonio in the district of Castignola.

At the beginning of 1800, on the basis of a fund left by some faithful of S. Antonio, a new, larger church was built, built perpendicular to the primitive one.

The new parish was established on 22 July 1887 by Bishop Guindani and includes about ten districts belonging to the municipality of Brembilla.

Of moderate artistic value is the altarpiece of S. Antonio Abate local patron with S. Giovanni Battista and S. Lorenzo, patrons of Brembilla and Zogno respectively.

Also interesting is the altarpiece of the nativity by Abramo Spinelli, early 1900s. The Via Crucis, the work of Gaetano Perarda, was added to these works in 1940.

It is located at 987 m. above sea level on the pass between Brembilla and Zogno. There is a small bar nearby.

Here you can park to begin the climb towards the ref. Zucco and then continue towards Mount Zucco. I also recommend approaching the church to admire the view over the Brembilla Valley.
