The Łuknajno Lake nature reserve - a fauna reserve [1] located in the Masurian Landscape Park [2], approx. 5 km east of the center of Mikołajki, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the Land of Great Masurian Lakes. Its area is 1189.11 ha [1] [3].

This area was declared a "protection area" in 1947 by the order of the Olsztyn Voivode [1]. Earlier, the lake was placed under protection on July 24, 1937 by the Third Reich [4]. Since 1976, due to its exceptionally high scientific value, it has also been placed under international protection as a biosphere reserve under the UNESCO-MAB program ("Man and the Biosphere").
