Norbert Prangenberg (1949 – 2012) was born in Rommerskirchen. An oversized concrete sculpture was created in 2002 as part of a large exhibition at the Hermeshof.

The Hermeshof is a single farmstead north of Rommerskirchen and south of Nettesheim am Gillbach. As early as 1195, the farm was first mentioned as "Hermundishoven". The Hermeshof was owned by the Cistercian Abbey of Altenberg (1133-1803) from 1244 until secularization around 1800.
