The over 500-year-old Panker Estate is located directly on the Baltic Sea coast, between Lütjenburg and Schönberg in Holstein Switzerland. Hohwacht, Plön, Malente, and Eutin are also nearby.

Panker Estate is a picturesque little village. With its baroque manor house, chapel, mighty gatehouse, old farm and residential buildings, stables, horses, and endless green pastures. A narrow road leads between the rows of houses.

Even today, you can trace the estate's more than 500-year-old history here.

But as idyllic as it may seem, Panker Estate is not a museum village, but rather an active village or estate community. 80 people live here, many of whom even work in the village. Shops and galleries have been open since 2001.

Panker Estate is famous for its Trakehner breeding. Around 30 horses romp around the pastures around the manor house in the summer. The Trakehner breeding program in Panker was founded immediately after the war with a few horses from Trakehnen in East Prussia. Refugees brought them here across the frozen Baltic Sea. And so, for six decades, Panker Estate has provided a dignified setting for the caring, conscientious breeding of valuable, noble Trakehner horses.

The Panker Estate manor house is still privately occupied by the von Hessen family, whose property includes Panker Estate.
