Stroll to the Grand Place of Binche with in the middle the town hall of Binche (in Gothic style) and its belfry, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just like the belfries of Thuin, Charleroi, Mons and also Tournai. Although the Grand Place of Binche is not as large and touristy as that of Brussels, it is still a unique place due to the unique atmosphere that prevails all year round. It is always very lively, thanks to the small bars and restaurants. With a bit of luck you will meet a resident of Binche, who will proudly tell you about “his” carnival.

The favorite place for important meetings and events in the city. Music festivals, heritage days, cycling races, ... this emblematic place in the city has its apotheosis during the arrival of the Gilles de Binche, who stomp on the cobblestones with their clogs, and during the formation of the rondeau that the whole world sees during Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) wants to discover.

Here we see the town hall and the beautiful belfry. We are not sure when the town hall was built. The building was previously used as a market hall, a municipal butcher's shop and as a meeting place for magistrates. The upper part of the bell tower and the belfry are in Renaissance style, while the lower part and the arcades are in Gothic style. The building's belfry, a symbol of the city's freedoms, dates from the 14th century and has been on the prestigious UNESCO heritage list since 1999, like several other belfries in Wallonia.
