“… Karolinenbrücke – named after Max I Joseph’s wife. The bridge is of course much older, as it formed the basis for Landsberg's wealth from the salt trade. Thankfully, Henry the Lion also localized its route in Landsberg. And for which the city collected customs. When Max I Joseph inaugurated the bridge on January 1, 1806, it was far more representative than before. After Max's merger with Napoleon, it led to Swabia, which had finally become Bavarian. Architect Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking created a bridge with gallant central arches - which was dilapidated after just seven years. In 1910 it was destroyed by the flood, in 1930 it was widened and in 1952 the present bridge was built. ...”
