"The sculpture of the dragonfly stands on the traffic circle Annweiler - Ost in the southern Palatinate.
Design and execution: Daniel Moriz Lehr and Lucie Wegmann - 2006
Material: cast aluminum, acrylic glass, steel, concrete
    Height: incl. base approx. 8m
So why a dragonfly for Annweiler?
Not only the well-known insect bears this name, but also the small cylindrical glass body filled with liquid and a gas bubble that can be found in all spirit levels. The word "dragonfly" comes from the Latin (lat. lead, spirit level, horizontal surface) and refers to the even, balanced flight of the insect of the same name.
In order to be able to lay her eggs on a blade of grass or a rush, the beautifully colored female insect bends her tail and thus represents a symbol of fertility. The local company STABILA secured the patent for these measuring-technical acrylic glass levels in 1950 and has been equipping them all over the world ever since used spirit levels with it.
The STABILA company financed the design of the roundabout and then gave it to the town of Annweiler."
