Today, the Poenige Tower is used for museum exhibitions and can be visited and viewed free of charge on various dates. In the past, many victims of witch hunts were kept gone under unspeakable conditions. Today the exhibition "47 witch shrines" by the artists Ulla Brockfeld and Dagmar Müller commemorates the victims of that time.

One of the city of Menden's former defense towers is the Poenuge Tower, built in the mid-14th century. Since 2011, the tower's interior has been restored and accessible thanks to the installation of a staircase and platforms. Since 2015, the tower has housed a permanent exhibition commemorating the victims of the witch hunt.
