St Lawrence’s is a pretty church in the heart of Eyam. It was built in the 13th century and partly rebuilt in the 15th century. The church is synonymous with the Great Plague of 1665-66, when the villagers quarantined themselves after Black Death came to Eyam via a package from London. This courageous act prevented the disease from spreading. St Lawrence’s is Grade II-listed.

The church is medieval with elements from the 13th and 15th centuries. It was partially rebuilt in 1619. The church was restored in 1868–70 by George Edmund Street.
