At the exit of the Fürstenburggraben from the Westersielzug there is one of the three floodgates with pumping station of the Eider-Treene-Verband to protect the old town and its canals from inland floods from the Treene. The peninsula between Treene and Fürstenburggraben can be reached via the pedestrian bridge and then the Blue Bridge in the direction of the train station.
