The Oeffelter Meent is the northernmost part of the Maasheggen nature reserve in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. Since about 1400 this area has belonged to the Crosiers of Saint Agatha. The area is characterized by open river dunes and rivers such as the Virdse Graaf and the Oeffeltse Raam. These run partly through old Meuse river canals. Between 1820 and 1850 one of the river dunes was excavated so that the gravel came to the surface. This gravel was also partially mined, resulting in a bumpy meadow rich in relief. Clay was also mined for brick making. All this has led to the formation of swampy valleys.
