This "raven" stands between Hattersheim and Weilbach.

A beautiful sculpture, the first to be erected in the regional park! The artist is from the region.

Mystical, maybe also in need of explanation. Definitely a real eye-catcher!

Beautiful sculpture in the regional park was probably the first to be placed

Silver, shiny, three meters high, angular, unreal, almost like a character from a science fiction film: The raven at the edge of the Nussbaumquartier catches everyone's attention. It also has the honor of being the first artwork to be erected in the pilot area of the regional park. The aluminum sculpture was created by Thomas Reinelt from Flörsheim. It subtly plays with aspects of the tension between nature and culture and the role of humans.

The artwork, erected in 1998, combines two images that closely merge with one another. On the one hand, the upright, towering raven. On the other, crystal-like geometric shapes. They replaced one leg of the imperious-looking bird. While the realistically proportioned raven figure symbolizes the value of nature, the geometric shapes are intended to represent human activity, the construction and dismantling, the joining and connecting. One can recognize in this an attempt to displace or replace nature.

Although distorted by its aluminum construction, the animal figure dominates most of the sculpture. This can be interpreted as a reference to the resilience and indestructibility of nature. But also as an encouragement from the artist to recognize the forces of nature and to be empowered by them.

The work of art, erected in 1998, combines two images that merge closely with one another. On the one hand, the upright raven bird that towers over everything. On the other, geometric shapes arranged like crystals. They replaced one leg of the bird that seemed so domineering.

Thomas Reinelt was born in Berlin and has lived in the Main-Taunus district since early childhood. He studied from 1972-1977 at the Städel Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt/Main.
In his narrower field of activity, he has made a name for himself with the raven as a statement piece. Many copper bird sculptures delight viewers in various places.

His largest ravens to date are in the regional park in the Nussbaumquartier Hattersheim and at the Rhein-Main landfill in Flörsheim-Wicker. They are made of aluminum magnesium alloy and are 3 and 4 meters high respectively.

A nice gimmick, right on the bike path.

Beautifully designed figure on the cycle path in the shape of a raven.
