Place royale, the promenade du Peyrou, a belvedere wide open to all horizons, hosts an equestrian statue of Louis XIV, whose architect Jean Giral completed the construction in 1774. It also contains the Château d'eau designed in the 18th century. This square located on the outskirts of the Ecusson is one of the favorite places of the people of Montpellier. The triumphal arch and the water tower that the aqueduct extends, are models of classical architecture.
