Nice little harbor with lighthouse and delicious fish restaurant nearby.

The lighthouse was built in 1872 and was only 17 meters high - around 1930 it was increased by 21 meters☝️

There are further information boards around the tower to reveal interesting information!

In fact, people still live downstairs in the main building of the tower, and small residential units are rented out there!

The Timmendorf-Poel lighthouse is a lighthouse on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the international order number C 1386. It is located on the island of Poel near the town of Timmendorf. It marks the entrance to the Wismar Bay and is one of two larger beacons on the island.

The Timmendorfer lighthouse was put into operation on October 1, 1872 and increased by 3.6 meters to its current height of 21 meters in 1931. This part remained unpainted in contrast to the white-painted lower part. The tower has been operated remotely since 1978. From 1996 to 1997, the listed brick tower had to be stabilized and therefore partially rebuilt. In the course of the work, the entire beacon technology was replaced. It shows the identification common mode fire (Iso / Glt. 6 seconds) and reaches a range at Sigma 0.741 to approx. 16 nautical miles. On May 13, 1975 a stamp was issued by the GDR's Deutsche Post for 5 pfennigs, showing the tower. It belongs to the series of lighthouses, guide, beacon and pier lights.
