The air defense was coordinated by the German occupier from this bunker in the Grafelijkheidsduinen.

The FL250 was nicknamed 'Kroontjesbunker' because of the shape of the tower. The headquarters of the German anti-aircraft defense of the Verteidigungs-reich Den Helder was located here. Allied aircraft movements were monitored and recorded in this bunker. The battle control of the anti-aircraft defense took place from here. This bunker is one of two examples still present in the Atlantic Wall and this is the only bunker of this type in the Netherlands that is still intact. The tower was used as an air watchtower for visual observations of aircraft. Around this bunker is a whole complex of shelters of the M151 type, hidden in the Grafelijkheidsduinen.
