This reservoir, located on the Navacerrada River in the municipality of Navacerrada, has an interesting history. It was built in the 1950s to supply water to the Air Force Anti-Tuberculosis Sanatorium in La Barranca. After its closure, it was abandoned and, over the years, it has become a rich ecosystem that is home to species at risk of extinction such as the otter, various birds, mammals, fish and amphibians. All this makes this area of high environmental and landscape value.
