The ruins of the Rodaun cement plant bring a true "lost place" atmosphere to your tour: old walls, tall silos, and trees and shrubs reclaiming the site. From the edge of the grounds, you'll have fascinating views of the industrial remnants and across to the Vienna Woods. Please stay on the official paths – this way you can enjoy the atmosphere and history safely and without worry.

Road cycling

Quarries and lime kilns have always existed in the Dürren-Liesing valley. The cement plant was then founded in 1896. In 1938 it was taken over by Perlmooser AG, which expanded it to today's massive dimensions after the war. It was then sold to Lafarge in the 1990s, who finally closed down the plant in 1996. The jobs disappeared from the valley, the gigantic ruins remained until today. The ruin is an attractive relic from bygone times.
