Artenara is the highest town in Gran Canaria. Particularly interesting is the cave chapel Virgen de la Cuevita (Virgin of the small cave). There is also a small cave museum and some viewpoints. The church in the center of the village is especially beautiful from the inside.

Very nice place and perfect starting point for many hikes. However, the restaurants close at 6pm (Dec 24 / Jan 25)
