Excellent visitor center that provides detailed information, exhibits and videos about the Elephant seals that live in the park on the beach about 20 minutes down the trail. The rangers coordinate either self-guided visits or the docent-led tours during the active period (mostly the mating season) when crossing paths with the seals can be dangerous. The center offers both free information materials, an sells books, souvenirs, and outdoor gear in the store.
There are picnic tables, restrooms, and drinking water fountains at the center and under nearby trees with great views.

Mountain biking

Entrance to the park is free on foot or bike. Great natural science museum about the coastal biology and in particular the elephant seals. Depending on the season here you must register for the ranger-led tour if the male seals are in mating seasonal movement along the beach in November, or simply get a permit for self-guided walks outside of that period.
