The Patio de los Leones in the Alhambra, built by order of Muhammad V between 1362 and 1391, is the culmination of Nasrid architecture. Its famous fountain is probably its most outstanding element, due to its decorative richness and its symbolism, offering us one of the very few examples of Hispano-Muslim sculptural representation within a globalizing complex, to which it gives its name, Cuarto, Palacio y Patio de los Leones.

Palace complex, residence of the kings of Granada. It began to be built by the founder of the dynasty, Alhamar, in the 13th century, although the buildings that have survived to this day date mainly from the 14th century. These palaces enclose within their walls the refinement and delicacy of the last Hispano-Arab governors of Al Andalus, the Nasrids.
