The Lederer Tower, also known as the Small Powder Tower, is located on the Gunpowder Lane and dates from the 15th century. Century and is one of the two towers that remain in the lower town. The tower was part of the fourth fortification wall of the city of Sibiu.

The tower's name comes from the Lederer Guild, which had workshops in this part of town and dealt with its security and maintenance.

The Lederer Tower is octagonal in shape and is built on four levels, the last of which is outstanding, with a pyramidal roof. Loose loopholes for cannon appear here for the first time. Each side of the tower has oil holes and loopholes for light artillery, more numerous on the outside. The roof has a metal rectangular wind vane that appeared, probably, recently, after the mid-nineteenth century.

Leather Tower is considered a great survivor of the city of Sibiu, having been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years. In the great fire of March 31, 1566, the tower exploded because the powder was stored here. The tower was then hit by another fire disaster, on September 7, 1570, so that on August 28, 1638, it exploded for the third time when the tower was struck by lightning. It was rebuilt in the same year.
