Treptow, from 1292 also Altentreptow, was built in the 13th century. In the 15th century the city was set on fire; the first town hall with all the documents burned down. A new, second town hall with three Gothic gables was built. In 1734 the second town hall was so dilapidated that it was demolished. Only 1611 people lived in the city at that time. In 1748 the third town hall was built for the impoverished town, a simple half-timbered building that had to make way for the new town hall in 1868.
