The outline of the volcano crater can be clearly seen, and the flora also has plenty of discoveries. Really a great spot of nature, can be well combined with a trip to Rolandsbogen. More here: natur-erleben-nrw.de/natura-2000/regionen-und-gebiete-in-nrw/details/rodderberg

On the "summit" of the Rodderberg you have a great panoramic view. Above all, the view of the Siebengebirge and Cologne / Bonn direction has inspired us!

The Rodderberg is an extinct volcano in the east of the municipality Wachtberg. The rock has an age of about 800,000 years, the last eruption is dated to 250-300,000 years. The more than 50 meters deep circular funnel with a diameter of approx. 800 meters is still visible today as a depression. On the slope of the Rodderberg to the Rhine is the Rolandsbogen, a romantic remnant of the former hill castle Rolandseck. Below the Rodderberg are two islands in the Rhine: Nonnenwerth and Grafenwerth.
