To hike Cairn Gorm via the northern quarries is a super good mountain day. This ascent route is quite an arduous affair, but the ascent path via Cairn Lochan has super nice views. It is normally done on a circular route starting from the ski centre, taking in Cairn Lochan, Sneachda, and Cairn Gorm. Do be aware that there is a pathless section and the route is exposed in places along the edges of cliffs. In good summer conditions, this is quite a straightforward hike, but it will require good navigational skills if the weather is inclement, and it is a serious undertaking in the winter that requires winter skills and the requisite equipment.

The ascent path here across the northern corries is not too steep and is in good condition. It makes a pleasant walk to gain altitude and the views across the corries are good.
