The bronze sculptures “Standing Man” and “Lying Woman” by Bernhard Hoetger, an important artist of the Expressionist movement, have found a special place in Dortmund-Hörde. Originally born in Dortmund (1874-1949), Hoetger completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason and studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Although his artistic focus later lay in Bremen and Worpswede, his works are also of historical and cultural significance in his hometown of Dortmund.

The sculptures “Standing Man” and “Lying Woman” were re-erected in Hoetger Park in Hörde and are open to the public. This park offers an insight into Hoetger's work and serves as a meeting point for guided tours and cultural events that deal with the artist's life and work.
