There you decide how to proceed. You can continue in the direction of Veste Heldburg, to the Schnepfenbrunnen, to Lindenau or over the Drei Eichen in the direction of Billmuthausen and on to Bad Colberg or Gauerstadt and Bad Rodach. All paths are open to you ✌🏻👍🏻.

Brand new refuge here at Pfaffenholz, ideal for resting. The Pfaffenholz between Heldburg and Bad Colberg was a favorite hunting area of the then Duke Johann Casimir of Saxe-Coburg (1586-1633) at the end of the 16th century. He shared his passion for hunting with numerous rulers of neighboring territorial lords, whom he often invited to his territory. During his reign, the Heldburg fortress took on the character of a hunting lodge, to which his successor, Ernst the Pious of Saxe-Gotha (1644-1675), also contributed. Around 1680, more than four hundred deer antlers adorned the rooms of the Veste Heldburg.

At the crossroads you decide where to go. Coming from Billmuthausen via the fish ponds and Drei Eichen, or from the Tonberg near Bad Colberg, you can go to Lindenau, to the Schnepfenbrunnen or via the bridle path to Heldburg. The bridle path takes you to the Hohen Stein. A very beautiful trail begins there 👌🏻🤙🏻. And a new hut has recently been built right here, offering shelter or inviting you to take a rest.
