The former Holzminden - Scherfede railway ran over this bridge. At Wehrden there was a temporary connection to the Sollingbahn, which bridges the Weser a little further upstream [komoot.de/highlight/508288]. The line was in operation for passenger trains from 1876 to 1984, and at times a luxury train even ran here from Berlin to Paris and Ostend. Freight train traffic over the bridge stopped in 1988.More information: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnzeile_Holzminden%E2%80%93Scherfede
