The "Old Castle" in Beihingen was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. It was built in the 19th century and essentially consists of two fenced half-timbered buildings facing each other. The tower, the Romanesque predecessor of today's castle, is still partially preserved. In 1546 the castle-like property got its current appearance.
The owners changed several times. So it belonged to the Lords of Nothafft, Stammheim, Freyberg and Hallweyl. The Göler von Ravensburg and the Lords of Gemmingen-Hornberg were also allowed to call themselves owners for a while.
The fountain in the castle courtyard, which is freely accessible, shows the coat of arms of the Lords of Gemmingen-Hornberg.
Since 1964, the castle has belonged to the municipality, which set up apartments here, as well as the city archives and the library.

Old Castle 🏰 Beihingen and New Castle 🏰 Beihingen directly opposite, and the Amandus Church above Old Castle Beihingen is also well worth seeing.
