In the beautiful rural village of Escanaffles (Celles), popularly called Schalafie, just across the language border in Wallonia and close to Avelgem, lies the 8 hectare nature reserve with a total area of 10 hectares. Very special in the nature reserve is the still intact presence of the historic pattern of ditches. There is one main ditch that drains water to the Rhosnes River and dozens of side ditches that flow into that main ditch.

Hiking

A small but exceptionally valuable natural gem just across the language border in Escanaffles (municipality of Celles), near Avelgem. The area was officially recognized as a nature reserve in December 2023 and is a collaboration between Natuurpunt, Ardenne & Gaume, and the Cercles des Naturalistes de Belgique (CNB).
