The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kaczyce is an interesting wooden structure, originally built before 1620 in Ruptawa, moved to its current location in the 1970s. buildings of surrounding houses. The facility is located in the Pszczyna loop of the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship.
    About the church

The church originally stood in Ruptawa, which is now part of Jastrzębie Zdrój. We know that it was built before 1620 on the site of the previous building that was mentioned in 1447. The church in Ruptava was abandoned in 1949, when a new brick temple was built there. The building was demolished and reconstructed in the years 1971-1972 in Kaczyce - with some changes, which included, among others, the height and width of the bell tower and the appearance of Saturdays. The signature was also not recreated. It is a carcass construction on a stone foundation. It has a rectangular nave and a chancel, narrower than it, closed on three sides. Prominent Saturdays were supported by beams. The gable roof is covered with shingle. The bell tower has a pillar structure, and a spherical cupola rises above its chamber, which is the result of the reconstruction carried out at the beginning of the 20th century. The interior has a Baroque decor.
    The interior of the church

The 17th-century main altar is one of the valuable elements of the interior. In it there is a painting of Saint Anna Samotrzecia and a figure of Saint. John of Nepomuk and St. Ignacy Loyola. There are also side altars in the church, dedicated to St. Catherine and St. Barbara. On the wall next to the altar of St. Barbara, a bas-relief of this saint was suspended, transferred from the hall of the closed hard coal mine "Morcinek". A baroque crucifix and two sculptures of angels were placed on the rainbow. Some of the old furnishings, such as the 15th-century Pieta and the 14th-century sculptures of twelve apostles, are in the Archdiocese Museum in Katowice. The contemporary furnishings of the church include a copy of the aforementioned Pieta, made in 1938 by Eugeniusz Janota, and the Stations of the Cross and a crucifix made by Jan Krężelok from Koniaków. The ceilings and walls were painted in 1974 by a polychrome by Jadwiga Smykowska from Cieszyn, Adam Romaniuk from Katowice and Grzegorz Zgrai from Gliwice.
