        The corner house, which was badly damaged in the Second World War, was rebuilt in 1950/51 by the Paul Kossel company almost exactly as it was originally designed, according to plans by the architect Herbert Anker. After reconstruction, the former Rathscafé was called the German House. Sandstone reliefs depict destruction and reconstruction. The interior was significantly altered in 1956. Only the corner house on Hakenstrasse has been preserved: a replica of a hall from the Stövesandt House on Geeren, using original stairs, doors and parapet panels with acanthus carvings from around 1740.

        The former market halls were now called Citizens' Rooms and some of the rooms continued to be called Raths Rooms. The German Brotherhood Aid was located in the building.
