The 'uppermost' (northernmost) lake before the bridge over the Ablach River is open for swimming. All others are reserved for wildlife. The Schwackenreuth Lake District is a nature reserve. Near the parking lot at the viewing platform, there is a sign with a map that identifies and describes the swimming lake as Lake No. 6.

The Schwackenreuth Lakes are pure nature. Wildlife testifies to the power of nature. A diverse flora and fauna has evolved there from what gravel mining has wonderfully shaped and left for us.

This is a place to linger. Here you can unwind.

There is a swimming lake in the middle of the nature reserve. Access is open, and swimming is free, but at your own risk. Enjoy swimming in a natural lake. Numerous water birds have become accustomed to the presence of humans. However, it is always advisable to keep a safe distance. A trip to our Schwackenreute Lake District is always worthwhile, even year-round.

It's best to follow the signs from the Schwackenreute railway crossing.
