The present stone-walled church with a pieta as an altarpiece, exists since 1895. Next to it is a larger than life crucifixion group from 1834, which finds protection in a modest wooden chapel.

On my bike tour from Freyung to Haidmühle, I happened upon the Kohlstattsbrunn pilgrimage chapel. The previous steep approach to this gem in the middle of the forest was worth it. Anyone who comes to this area should stop here.
The Wallfartsort got its name from a spring, the Kohlstattbrunnen. The fountain was already used as a pilgrimage destination in the 18th century, as the fresh drinking water was used as medicinal water for eyes and throat sufferers.
However, I quenched my thirst and filled my water bottle with "healing water".
