Leopoldsreut is a small, abandoned village and lies at over 1,100 meters in the Bavarian Forest. Since the beginning of the 19th century, the already small village shrank until 1963, the last inhabitant left his house. Today, only the school building, which at that time was the highest school in Germany, and the small, renovated church stand here.
