The Vergio Pass culminates at 1,467 meters above sea level. It connects Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, as well as the two sides of the island, from the interior. It is one of the meeting points between the GR 20 and the GT 20.

The Col de Vergio is the highest road pass in Corsica and for that reason alone a worthwhile destination. Much more important, however, is the route that is great from both sides and leads to the top of the pass. From the west through the spectacular Scala di Santa Regina and past Monte Cinto or from the east up to the Gorges de Spelunca, where the road leads along the upper edge of the hundreds of meters deep gorge. The pass does not have any particularly steep sections on either side, on the contrary, the east approach in particular is extremely long and flat. The quality of the route is mostly okay (06/2018), but you should expect some, sometimes severe potholes, especially on the eastern ramp.
