Mostly dry even in early spring the arroyos cut into the slope whenever there's a rare downpour or melting snow. The wind does the rest to dry out vegetation. Trunks of windswept trees or Joshua trees, some with forest service monitoring markers, show that there must have been better times with more precipitation in earlier years. The trail is beautifully laid out along the contour with great views at every step.
