The trail runs along the spine of the ridge dividing the Oak Creek watershed draining to the north (if ever there is water ;-) from the mostly dry arroyos draining to evaporate in the south. In late winter there can still by some snow on the trail with some luck, to supply snowmelt water. The rest of the year is bone-dry here for miles.
