Third church in this location. The first was a fortified church, mentioned in 1496 as "fortified in the manner of a castle" with a moat, curtain wall, defensive towers and "gades" inside for the farmers in times of need, the church tower as a "keeper".
The second church, a simple baroque building, lasted barely 100 years. Both churches were surrounded by the "churchyard".
Today's church is a remarkable building by the Weinbrenner School from 1841 made of yellow sandstone in the neo-Romanesque style; the architect was Friedrich Theodor Fischer.
Inside it has three aisles with a gallery running around three sides. The remarkable furnishings include the rare organ by the master organ builder Eberhard Friedrich Walcker from 1846 and the monument to the field marshal lieutenant and commander of the Luxembourg Fortress, Eberhard von Gemmingen from 1776.
On the outside of the south portal is the base of the grave monument of her son, the first local lord of Hoffenheim, Ottheinrich I: von Gemmingen from 1790.

The evangelical church of Hoffenheim is visible from afar on a hill in the village. It was built in the Neo-Romanesque Weinbrenner style in 1841 on the site of a dilapidated church from 1731.
Worth seeing is the organ of the famous Ludwigsburg organ builder family Walcker and the epitaph of Eberhard von Gemmingen (1688-1767) and his wife Clara, nee von Zillenhart (1685-1768). This epitaph was erected by his descendants in 1776. On the epitaph there is an eight-part ancestral test (coat of arms of the ancestors).
At the church there is a small modern Our Father garden with some sculptures.
