Next to the old monks cemetery, you can walk long spectacular arches of hornbeams and hundreds of perennial and fragrant plants through a beautiful garden that pays tribute to the monks who once lived on the domain. You will find, among other things, beautiful wrought iron benches from which you can admire the beauty of this place in peace.More than 700 years ago, the chapel of the domain stood exactly on the spot. By the way, this place is marked by an event that took place centuries ago. In 1321, under the orders of Philip, King of France, the Jews were expelled from the Kingdom. Some of them decided to settle in Mons, where they were protected under the reign of Willem I d'Avesnes, Count of Hainaut. One of these Jews converted and even became a sergeant of the court. A year after his conversion, the man was on his way to the monastery when suddenly the image of the Blessed Virgin appeared before his eyes. As a false convert, the man decided to wound the Virgin five times with his spear. He was subsequently arrested and sentenced to death. After the event, the Virgin began to bleed from her five wounds. People flocked to see the miracle. From then on, a long list of cures was assigned to the Virgin of Cambron. It is therefore in tribute to that event that this garden was created at the time.
