Info:

Predecessor buildings on the site of the Großcotta church already existed in the 14th century.

At the end of the 15th century,
a new building was built, which was rebuilt several times in the 17th and 18th centuries, or expanded several times. By the 16th century,
it had been a parish church; Kleincotta and Neundorf were part of the parishes. Around 1620, it received its squat-looking church tower.

After Baron von Friesen took possession of the manor in 1662, he had the castle built in Großcotta in the immediate vicinity of the church.
