Yesnaby is one of Orkney's most spectacular stretches of coastline, and should definitely be on your list of 'must see' locations when visiting the islands.
You will find it on the west coast of mainland Orkney. This wild location offers beautiful sea views. Expect huge waves against the cliffs during a westerly storm, but in calmer weather it's a nature lover's paradise, with wild flowers - including Primula scotica - and plenty of seabirds to spot.

You can find Primula scotica [Scottish Primrose] here. It is a biannual first season May, Second season July

Tip: Near the fence line below the parking area amongst the coastal heath. It is substantially smaller than normal Primroses. Think 5p coin size. It has thanks to pandemic undergone a recovery so once you've got your eye in, that's it.

Other favourite in August, Parnassia palustra [Grass-of-Parnassus] sometimes called Bogstar beautiful white viened flower, the fruit turns a deep purple once ripe.
