The Graz country house in Herrengasse was built between 1527 and 1531 as the first Renaissance building in the city of Graz, the main wing of which was built from 1557 according to the plans of the architect Domenico dell'Allio. The former seat of the estates is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Central Europe. Characteristic are the ornate arched windows, the airy arcades and the three-storey arcade courtyard. The baroque country parlor is now the meeting room of the Styrian Parliament, and numerous events take place in the arcaded courtyard.

Great location and at the same time the seat of the country's father/mother.

The Landhaus der Steiermark is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Austria. The Landhaus complex, which is bordered by Herrengasse, Landhausgasse and Schmiedgasse as well as the Landeszeughaus, was built over a period of around 150 years in response to the need for a meeting place for the Estates.

Its origins lie in a town house in Herrengasse, which the Estates acquired in 1494 to hold their meetings. In 1534, a house was purchased in Herrengasse, where the Estates' chancellery was already located, meaning that for the first time the entire area between Herrengasse, Landhausgasse and Schmiedgasse belonged to the Styrian Estates.

Space was thus created for a stately palace that served to represent the Estates. In 1555, the state parliament decided to commission the fortress architect Domenico dell'Aglio (also dell'Allio, de Lalio, De Lallio, etc., around 1515 - 1563), a native of Scaria, to build the new country house in Herrengasse.
