The project for the church of San Martino Vescovo in Torre Boldone is attributed to Giovanni Battista Caniana and dates back to around 1739.

De Capitani Eugenio was the designer of the bell tower (1802), while Elia Fornoni carried out the extension of the foot of the cross (1892)

      X - 1740

The first parish church, dedicated to San Martino and prior to the year 1000, was demolished in 1740, together with the bell tower, in order to use the building materials for the "factory" of the new church.

      1745

Completed in its essential parts, the church was solemnly blessed on November 14, 1745 and the Holy Sacrament was carried in solemn procession from the old church to the new one.

At that moment the toponym of “S. Martino Vecchio ”to indicate the old parish church but also the neighborhood that surrounds it.

The relics and all the furnishings were then transferred: statues, paintings, marbles, vestments and more.

      1786

The heads of the Torre Boldone family gathered to decide to complete the work on the church. It was on that occasion that for the first time there was talk of a real bell tower, in masonry, more dignified than the wooden structure, placed in front of the church, which supported the bells.

      1818 - 1953

The bells laid in 1818 were requisitioned in the period of the last war: the current ones were laid in 1953

      1864

On 25 September 1864, the new church was solemnly consecrated with the title of St. Martin of Tours and the relics of Saints Benedict, Vincent and Valentine were placed in the altar

      1892

In 1892, on a project by Elia Fornoni, the extension of the church towards the churchyard was built.

      1894

The internal floor of the church was laid in white Seravezza and black Varenna marble.

      1932

Retouching is carried out in the colors on the external walls of the church
