The large coin treasure is a work of art along the Essche Stroom. This work of art is a lasting reminder of the Roman coin treasure found here. In 1962 the Essche Stroom on the border between St. Michielsgestel and Vught was widened and canalized by the Water Board. During this work, children playing found all kinds of coins. In total, almost 4800 Roman coins and some silver spoons have been excavated. The coins date from the years 253 to 275 AD (Many of these coins can be admired in the Archaeological Museum in St.-Michielsgestel). Also during the work in 2014, 2 Roman coins were found.
