Since the Swedish invasion, the ruined castle has not been restored for over 300 years. In the 19th century, the destruction was completed by the demolition of the castle walls and buildings, which became a source of stone for the local population. Łódź manufacturer Antoni Urbanowski also used it in 1880 as a material to strengthen the banks of the Pilica for a planned investment. The first scientific studies of the castle remains were undertaken only after the end of World War II in 1949.

Since 2007, the castle ruins have been included in plans for reconstruction and reconstruction.
