Selenča is a Serbian village in the administrative district of Južna Bačka in the western part of the province of Vojvodina with around 3200 inhabitants, mostly of Slovak descent.

Evangelical Slovaks have lived in Selenca for 240 years. The city's website reads in Serbian, Slovak and English: 'Considering the thousands of years that have passed, 240 years is not a very large period of human life on this planet. For us, the living people, however, it is an honorable time. As we contemplate the years that have passed through faithful eyes, we must thank God for His grace, love, and blessings that our ancestors received from Him, and because of them we receive them today. During that time, nine to ten generations of descendants lived in Selenca, who came to this area in 1758 to build a better life for them and future generations. If we think about why our ancestors left their homes and moved to a new place to build their new home, maybe we could find the right answer.'
