Obertheres Castle in Bavaria dates back to a former Benedictine monastery, of which only the four corner towers, the gatehouse and a few outbuildings remain today. The monastery church was demolished at the beginning of the last century and unfortunately no longer exists.
The building was erected between 1042 and 1045 by Bishop Luidger from Bamberg
